Francis Bacon is  an Irish born painter,  his 1969 triptych sold at Christie's in New York  for $142.4 million in the postwar and contemporary sale making it the most expensive artwork ever sold at auction. The three six-foot panels depicting three studies of Bacon's Artwork which depicts Lucian Freud, Bacon’s friend and rival, perched on a wooden chair, the three had been sold individually several years before, However, a collector  bought them and reunited all three panels and completed the series.Years later he put them up for sale and giving other collectors  a chance to bid for Bacon's Artwork  at Christie's ...
